Historic Morayshire

Moray, one of 32 unitary council regionss in Scotland, lies in the north-east of the country and borders on the regions of Aberdeenshire and Highland. It covers parts of the traditional counties of Nairnshire, Morayshire and Banffshire.

Morayshire or Elginshire was also one of the traditional counties of Scotland, borderin Nairnshire to the west, Inverness-shire to the south, and Banffshire to the east. The traditional county town is Elgin.

Until 1975, it was also one of Scotland's administrative counties. Morayshire is currently used as a registration county for property.
