MCI was purchased by Greyhound Lines in the 1960s during a round of vertical expansion and was spun off in a series of divestments in the 1980s, however, to this day MCI is the primary manufacturer of motorcoaches for Greyhound.
MCI has fallen on hard times as of late. Falling demand for new coaches in North America combined with a weak export market led to near collapse at the company, and the bulk of its workforce at its plant in Winnipeg and Pembina, North Dakota has been laid off. They are still in business, though.
