Mount Elbert

Mount Elbert, in Colorado, at 14,433 feet from sea level, is the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains within the lower 48 United States. Elbert is the second highest mountain in the continental states after Mount Whitney, in California, and is but 61 feet shorter than Whitney's 14,494 feet.

Elbert is a fairly easy climb, and popular with hikers. It is located in the Saguache Range, outside of Leadville, Colorado.
