The petryoglyph are believed to have been carved by natives, possibly the Ancient Pueblo Peoples, into the rock between the first 1st and 5th century AD, but dating the rock carvings is difficult. The reason for the large concentration of the petroglyphs is unclear as well, making the rock somewhat of a mystery.
