Operation Driftwood

During World War II, Operation Driftwood was an unsuccessful raid by two teams of Special Air Service commandos which was launched in early 1944.

Tasked to attack rail targets north of Rome, the fate of the eight troopers is unclear. Part of Operation Maple.
