A personal information manager is a software application that keeps track of personal information such as:

E-mails
Address books
Calendars
Task lists
Task scheduling (invitations etc)
Notices

There are several software packages that does this. Some can also synchronize the required information with a personal digital assistant (PDA), such as a Palm Pilot or similar.
