Philip II, Duke of Burgundy
Philip II, Duke of Burgundy, known as the Bold (Philippe II de Bourgogne, le Hardi in French) (15 January1342 - 27 April 1404), was the fourth son of King John II of France and his wife, formerly Jutta of Bohemia. His father gave him the duchy of Burgundy in 1363, which he ruled until his death. Between 1380 and1388 he ruled France as regent for his nephew, Charles VI.
He was the founder of the second and last ducal House of Burgundy. He married Margaret (1350-1404/5), daughter of Ludwig II de Male, count of Flanders, on 19 June 1369.
He was succeeded as duke of Burgundy by their son John the Fearless (1371-1419).
