Puerto Vallarta is a city in the Jalisco state of Mexico, located at 20.62°N, 105.23°W. It fronts the Bahia de Banderas of the Pacific Ocean. It is important both as a shipping port and a tourism destination. In 2003 Puerto Vallarta had an estimated population of 165,800 people.
