Queensland Reds

The Queensland Reds are one of three super 12 teams based in Australia. The Super 12 competition was formed in 1996 and has rapidly evolved to being the toughest and most exciting provincal rugby competition in the world. The Queensland Reds have been consistantly top performers finishing minor premiers in 1996 and 1999 only to be beaten in the semi finals. The reds finished 8th in 2003 after a somewhat lacklustre season.

2004 will be one of the most important seasons for the QLD reds ever, following the succes of the RWC and the exodus of top players from the QLD Reds ranks, the Reds are determined to have a good season. The loss of top players is only soothed by the sight of new young stars coming through the ranks. Julian Huxley at 5/8, Daniel Heenan at lock, Josh Valantine a half back, Peter Hynes on the wing and Junior Pelesasa at outside centre, rookie players are also evident in the forwards pack with the hooker and prop facing their first Super 12 season.
