Radula

A radula is the rough tongue common to most molluscs. It is a protrusible, toothed organ used for scraping or tearing pieces of food and conveying the particles to the digestive tract. As the apex wears away, new teeth are imbedded at the posterior end. The number of teeth present depends on the species of mollusc and may number more than 100,000.
