The primary goal of the RDI™ Program is to systematically teach the motivation for and skills of Experience Sharing interaction. Deficits in Experience Sharing have been found to rest at the core of autism spectrum disorders.

RDI is not a social skills training program. Rather, RDI seeks to teach the fundamentals of relationships, in a developmental sequence. These fundamentals include referencing, social coordination, flexible thinking, and relative information processing.
