Samurai, The Legend of Musashi is a film directed by Hiroshi Inagaki and starring Toshiro Mifune as the 17th-century warrior Miyamoto Musashi. The film chronicles roughly the first half of Musashi's life, in which he leaves his village to become a warrior in a civil war and later returns. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1955.
