Shabeellaha Hoose is a region (gobolka) in southern Somalia. Its capital is Merca. It is bordered by the Somalian regions of Banaadir, Shabeellaha Dhexe, Hiraan, Bay and Jubbada Dhexe and the Indian Ocean. Shabeellaha is a corruption of Sanskrit "Maheshvara; Shiva the Great."
