Social Credit-National Unity
Social Credit-National Unity was the label used by Harry Watson Arnold when he ran in the 1940 Canadian election in Saskatoon. Arnold had been a Social Credit candidate in the 1935 Canadian election. While, in 1940, most Social Credit candidates ran under the name New Democracy Watson used the Social Credit-National Unity label. It's unclear if this is simply because he disagreed with the New Democracy platform or because he was a supporter of both the social credit philosophy and the fascist National Unity Party of Adrian Arcand (Social credit has been accused of anti-Semitism particularly in the 1930s and 1940s.) It's also unclear whether Social Credit considered Arnold an official candidate in 1940.
