South African Breweries
SAB, now SABMiller, is second largest global brewer. Most of the company's profits come from Europe and South Africa. Their major brands include Miller, Pilsner Urquel, and Castle. Brewing is an industry with very large returns to scale, most markets have a profitable dominant brewer, a few marginally profitable secondary brewers, and imports from the dominant brewers in other areas. SABMillers areas of dominance are South Africa, and parts of Eastern Europe.
SABMiller's main South African beers are Castle Lager, Black Label and Amstel Lager. These beers are produced in massive proportions using chemical methods to hasten the brewing process and are generally inferior in taste to beers made the traditional way using only natural ingredients.
