Spectres is a 1977 (see 1977 in music) heavy metal album by Blue Öyster Cult. Although BÖC is usually referred to as a metal band, much of their best known work fell into the "hard rock" or rock ballad category; Spectres is no exception. In fact, the album cover of ''Spectres'\' invokes much of the band's literary influences, with the band sitting in a 1940s-era parlor with a bookshelf and grandfather clock in the background. The reverse side of the album shows the band manipulating lasers (as in their infamous laser light shows during some of their concerts).
Spectres eventually was certified gold in January 1978 and contained the album rock hits "Godzilla", "Death Valley Nights", and "I Love the Night".
