Strategic enterprise management

Strategic Enterprise Management (SEM) refers to management techniques, metrics, and related tools (such as computer software) designed to assist companies in making high-level (strategic) decisions.

It typicaly uses a strategic information system to manage information and assist in strategic decision making. A strategic information system has been defined as, "The information system to support or change enterprise's strategy." by Charles Wiseman (Strategy and Computers 1985). Sprague has defined three classifications of strategic information systems:

  1. Competitive system
  2. Cooperative system
  3. The system changes operations of organization
