Swallow

There are two meanings of swallow as a noun.

• Swallow is the name commonly used in western Europe for the Barn Swallow, Hirundo rustica, a small migratory passerine bird.

• Swallow is often also used to refer more widely to various members of the Hirundinidae family, the swallows and martins, although it has no specific taxonomic significance within that family.
