The Tabard

'The Tabard\' was established in the medieval period on Borough High Street in Southwark. It is famous as the place owned by Harry Bailey the host in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. It was one of many famous coaching Inns in the days of Charles Dickens but did not survive into the 20th Century. It is next door to the George and near the site of the White Hart on the corner of Borough High Street.
