Therion is a Swedish symphonic/deathmetal band. Its name originates from Greek to mega therion meaning the great beast. It was founded by Christofer Johnsson in 1989.
Therion's later albums take their themes from different mythologies (Sumerian, Scandinavian and others). The music is sometimes thought to be unusual, featuring a choir and an orchestra.
