The Timex Social Club was a group that was formed in 1982.It's members *Gregory Thomas,* Marcus Thompson, *Kevin Moore, *Michael Marshall, *Craig Samuel, *Darrien Cleage, and *Alex Hill specialized in both old school rap and the merger of urban r&b with hip-hop rhythms later called new jack swing. Signed to Danya records, their only album Vicious Rumors was released in 1986.It had only one major hit in 1986, the chart-topping "Rumors". It came in eighth place on the pop chart and Marshall sang lead on the song. Both following singles "Thinkin' About Ya" and "Mixed-Up World" both reached the r&b top 20. The group became short-lived soon afterwards, when their producer, *Jay King, replaced them with a band that he formed and became a member of his own, a disco group called *Club Nouveau, and after 5 years of being together, the *Timex Social Club broke up.
