The Tiwa, in Spanish Tigua, people were the residents of the Isleta pueblo during the conquest of New Mexico.
After the revolt against the SpanishConquistadors in 1680, a few of the Tigua fled south with the Conquistadors, to El Paso, Texas, where they founded Ysleta, Texas, where they live to this day.
