Brazil's United Socialist Workers' Party (in Portuguese, Partido Socialista dos Trabalhadores Unificado, or PSTU) was founded in 1994 - although there were several pre-foundation congresses in 1992 and 1993 - , uniting several Socialist and Communist organizations and independent activists and, mainly, a number of former members of the Workers' Party who considered that party was not commited to the construction of a revolutionary action in the country.
Nowadays, the Trotskyist PSTU is Brazil's third largest leftist party, behind the PT and the PCdoB.
