Often the term vita means a curriculum vitae. Through ignorance of Latin it is in recent decades incorrectly called a "vitae" or -- even worse -- a "curriculum vita".

Vita (real name Lavita) is also a rapper on Irv Gotti's Murda Inc record label. She's known for her her featured appearances on N.E.R.D's (The Neptunes) 2001 debut single, "Lapdance," Ja Rule's singles "Down 4 U" and "Put It On Me," and the Murda Inc remix of Faith Evans' "Good Life," which appeared on the soundtrack to The Fast and the Furious. Vita also contributed a song to that soundtrack, a hip hop version of Madonna's controversial hit, "Justify My Love," which featured Ashanti and was set to be Vita's debut single, until it was poorly received.
