Walloon(Walon) is a romance language similar to French — in fact, it has been considered by some to be a dialect thereof — with a considerable number of borrowings of vocabulary and syntactic constructions from the Germanic languages. Walloon is spoken in Southern Belgium (in the Wallonia region and in Brussels), in a small portion in north of France and in the Green Bay region of Wisconsin, USA (where an important number of Walloon settlers came in the 19th century).
