Washington College

Washington College is a private, independent liberal arts and sciences college located in Chestertown on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Founded in 1782 under the patronage of George Washington, it is the tenth oldest college in the country and the first college chartered in the new nation.

Washington College has an enrollment of 1,400 students and a faculty size of 101, 98 percent of whom hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. The college’s 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio provides students with a unique opportunity for personalized education through one-on-one interaction and collaborative research with faculty. The college offers 26 undergraduate programs in the humanities and sciences and graduate programs in history, psychology, education, and English.
