Waterloo County, Ontario

Waterloo County is the original name of Waterloo Regional Municipality, an area comprising the cities of City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo and City of Cambridge as well as the townships of Township of Wilmot, Township of Wellesley, Township of North Dumfries and Township of Woolwich as well as Village of St. Jacobs, Village of Elmira, Village of New Hamburg and Village of Ayr.

Waterloo County became the Waterloo Regional Municipality in 1974 by an act of the provincial government of Ontario, restructuring the county government into a combined council that contained representatives of all three cities and townships.
