William Duckworth

William Duckworth (born in 1943) is credited as composer of the first postminimal piece of music, Time Curve Preludes.

He has also composed Thirty-One Days (1987) for Alto Saxophone, and Southern Harmony, a choral work which uses certain features of shaped-note singing. He is the author of Talking Music: Conversations With John Cage, Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, and Five Generations of American Experimental Composers, A Creative Approach to Music Fundamentals, 20/20: 20 New Sounds of the 20th Century, and the editor of Sound and Light: La Monte Young & Marian Zazeela.
