Wurundjeri

The Wurundjeri were the aboriginal people who occupied what is now Melbourne prior to European colonisation of the area. They spoke a Woirurrung language. Their territory extended from north of the Great Dividing Range, east to Mount Bawbaw, south to Mordialloc Creek and west to Werribee River.
