Zayed Bin-Sultan Al Nahyan is the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of the United Arab Emirates. In 1996 he succeeded his brother as Emir of Abu Dhabi, and was first elected to the presidency of the UAE in 1971. He is considered a liberal ruler, and allows private media.
